Our ethics organisation
The organisational system adopted by ANSM to implement its ethics policy and monitor its application relies on a department especially designed for this purpose and run by the Agency’s Ethics Officer. The Ethics Department reports to the Regulations and Ethics Division, which in turn reports to the Director General.
Ethics and Probity Department
The Ethics and Probity Department provides support, advice and legal expertise to the Director General and to all Agency departments in the prevention and management of potential conflict of interest scenarios. It also carries out information and training initiatives for Agency staff and for newly appointed members of bodies. In order to ensure that ethics rules are effective, it has also been assigned a monitoring and internal auditing role.Since 2012, ANSM has been developing an internal auditing programme overseen by the Ethics Department, which is designed to verify the application of ethics rules to various decision-making processes, as well as mandatory declarations of interests.
ANSM’s Ethics Advisor
The Ethics Advisor provides external support for public service ethics matters. She can provide any member of staff who requests it with useful advice on compliance with public service ethical principles. She acts in an advisory and support capacity for the Director General in relation to any general queries pertaining to ethics and the prevention of conflicts of interest, as well as the ethics-related control environment. In addition, the Director General may request advice in cases of serious doubt associated with a staff member’s mobility status. To ensure independence and impartiality, the Ethics Advisor may not request or receive instructions from ANSM’s Director General.Ethics Committee recommendations
